First of all congratulations to Crystal from Borden our first winner of a FREE pair of tickets to see Bon Jovi @ Magnetic Hill Music Festival’s Summer Kick Off June 27th in Moncton.  The ticket goodness continues all next week!

nhl playoff pick’ems

So behind the scenes this morning we had “issues” regarding the playoff pick’em pool.  After we clearly picked sides in the last round (myself choosing Pittsburgh and Corey choosing Detroit) it seemed as though Corey wanted to switch sides.  So we bickered a little to decide how we were going to pick sides.  Evidentally no agreement was made.  Which resulted in Corey refusing to come on the air, which resulted in me calling his cell phone… To no avail…  So I assume that means I get the Penguins in the finals…

Okay first of all a big thanks to everyone who phoned in to play along with our Bon Jovi SFX today.  I figured it would be a good time if I played the wrong clip just to confuse some listeners.  Have a listen to how much fun it was in today’s podcast.  At 8:50 am I played tomorrow’s sound, it’s be available at www.1021SPUDFM.com until 6am Thursday.

Angora Napkin

Summersider Troy Little came by the studio today to talk about his new comic book Angora Napkin.  He’ll be selling copies of it at the Summerside Farmer’s Market on Saturday.  Also, TeleToon produced a pilot episode of an Angora Napkin cartoon which will on TV shortly.  For more details on what’s going on with Troy and his other comic adventures visit www.MeanWhileStudios.com

Laser Ease Theraputics

Finally, today I talked about the new commercials you may hear on SPUD for the next little while.  For the last 10 years most people who’ve met me and become my friends have known just how important smoking was to me.  I loved it.  The smoke with buddies while we’re having beers, the smoke in the car on the way home after work, the 9am smoke after my show!!  But what started as love soon turned to dependance and all of a sudden I couldn’t function after 9 am without a smoke.

What made it worse was all those stories that you hear about people who just suddenly stop smoking one day.  You know something happens in their life and they quit.  My grandmother died after years of being a smoker and I just smoked more.  My daughter was born and I was stressed about affording diapers and baby food so what did I do?  I bought more ciggarettes to deal with the stress!  It didn’t make any sense, but that’s what addiction does to our brains.  It stops us from thinking logically and continually aches for our vice.  In this instance, smokes.

But everything changed about 2 weeks ago when I went to Laser Ease Theraputics.  Linda & Natalie have helped me every step of the way from the actual Laser Treatment to follow up calls and consistent support.  It’s only been two weeks but I feel a lot more confident about quitting then I’ve ever been.  If you’re a smoker who’s wants help quitting or if you know someone that smokes check out www.LaserEase.com and give’em call!

Okay, it’s been a while since I’ve made a blog / podcast entry. I’ll be honest, with the beautiful weather we’ve been having I’ve been rushing to leave the office as fast as I can. But now that that’s out of my system here we go… First of all, I want to say hi to Platinum Drive. I saw them Saturday night at the ice rink in Borden and they put on a great show. I didn’t realize it but I’ve been buddies with their lead singer (Sandra) on Facebook for like 6 months. It was great to meet her and hear the band. Speaking of local rocker SPUD FM is proud to present EDGE FEST on June 6th @ The Shipyard. Check out 1021SPUDFM.com for more details. Finally, today is Mike Myers 46th birthday and while I was surfing YouTube for a decent Wayne’s World clip (”excuse me sir, do you have any grey pupon?” Best. Quote. EVER.) I came across this video to share the best Wayne’s World moments with you…

Tomorrow on the show, listen for SPUD’s Happy Campers and we talk about the things you NEVER tell your spouse…

So two of my teams got beat last night in game 7s.   This was probably the most exciting round of playoffs I’ve seen in years.  But regardless of excitement I am now down by 2 series to the one they call Corey.  Chris & Corey’s Playoff Pick’ems continued this morning as we each choose sides.

I ended up with Pittsburgh and Chicago and Corey gets my arch rivals, Carolina Hurricanes and the Detroit Red Wings.

K-Club Tonight!

By the way, Corey and I are judges for the final evening of Kensington Idol tonight at The Kensington Club.  Come down and hang out with us!
